The Big Difference

As I walked out of the chapel after a memorial service for a Christian friend, the funeral home director remarked, "You know, there's a big difference between the funerals of those who are Christians and those who are unsaved."

The Curse Of Imperfection

One of the most exciting major league baseball games I ever saw came excruciatingly close to being one for the record books. One mistake, however, turned it into just another game.

Big Money

Some athletes and entertainers receive astronomical salaries. I can understand why they would take all they can get, but I wonder about a culture that spends so much to be entertained when countless people in the world are homeless and hungry.

Secure In Life And In Death

The castle at Edinburgh, Scotland, was built to provide great security for its citizens. Strategically situated atop a high overlook, its massive walls offered protection for the townspeople whenever invaders approached. 26,000 Gifts A Day!

What do you do 18 times a minute, 1,080 times an hour, 25,920 times a day, yet rarely notice? The answer: You breathe. If you are 40 years old, you have already taken more than 378 million breaths. And each of those breaths was a measured gift from the hand of God!

A Note Of Thanks

I was rummaging through some old files the other day when I ran across a big envelope full of treasures—a collection of thank-you notes from my students during the last year I taught in high school. They brought back some cherished memories.
